5	5	WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the loss of Harold Spencer
6	6	Stone of Katy, who died on November 22, 2008, at the age of 78; and
7	7	WHEREAS, Spencer Stone was born in Houston on July 11, 1930,
8	8	to H. A. Stone and Iras M. Stone; he graduated from Lamar High
9	9	School in Houston in 1949 and earned his bachelor's degree in
10	10	business administration from Baylor University in 1954; and
11	11	WHEREAS, After serving with the U.S. Air Force in Washington,
12	12	D.C., he returned to the Houston area, where he enjoyed a long and
13	13	diverse career as an entrepreneur and businessman; among the firms
14	14	he owned were Stone Supply Company, Spencer Petroleum Company,
15	15	International Marketing Associates, PrimeTex Realty Group, Kings
16	16	Crossing Development Company, and Spencer and Associates; he was
17	17	also a principal partner in Weed Eater, Inc., HMC/The Green
18	18	Machine, Brunson/Stone Interests, and other investment and
19	19	marketing groups; and
20	20	WHEREAS, This dynamic gentleman also found time to contribute
21	21	to the prosperity of his community; he was a member of the board of
22	22	directors of the Katy Area Economic Development Council, serving on
23	23	the executive committee and as co-chair of the industry committee,
24	24	and he was chairman of the board of the Technology Center of West
25	25	Houston; additionally, he was active with the Kingsland Baptist
26	26	Church; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Known for his warmth and his sense of humor, Spencer
28	28	Stone enjoyed meeting people and took pride in finding solutions to
29	29	challenges; he was devoted to his family and friends, and the memory
30	30	of his energy and his kindness will live forever in the hearts of
31	31	all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
32	32	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
33	33	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harold Spencer Stone
34	34	and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
35	35	wife, Beverly; to his daughters, Deborah Parsons and Tamalyn
36	36	Lawrence; to his son, Randall Stone; to his stepsons, Mark
37	37	Littlefield, Greg Littlefield, and Robert Littlefield; to his
38	38	sisters, Minnie Grace Ford and her husband, Mickie, and Estelle
39	39	Harris; to his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and to
40	40	his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
41	41	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
42	42	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
43	43	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harold
44	44	Spencer Stone.
