55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, With the passing of Worth McKinley Harrison of
77 Longview, at the age of 30, Texas lost a young man who had shown
88 great interest in the legislative and political processes of our
99 state; and
1010 WHEREAS, Born on June 21, 1978, in Dallas, Worth Harrison
1111 attended Longview High School and studied at Texas Christian
1212 University, where he was active in the affairs of both the school
1313 and his chosen fraternity, Kappa Sigma; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Harrison departed TCU with a desire to learn
1515 about and be directly involved in the political process of the Lone
1616 Star State; he furthered that interest by serving as an assistant
1717 sergeant in the sergeant at arms office of the Texas Senate during
1818 the 78th Legislative Session and as an intern in the office of
1919 Senator Eliot Shapleigh; dedicated to public service, he went on to
2020 assist the citizens of Texas House District 7 as a staff member in
2121 the office of Representative Tommy Merritt; and
2222 WHEREAS, After his work with the Texas House and Senate, this
2323 notable young man joined the law firm of Segal McCambridge Singer
2424 and Mahoney in Austin as a temporary employee, and his exceptional
2525 talent and winning personality soon earned him a full-time
2626 position; continuing old and forging new friendships, he was an
2727 inspiration to those with whom he came in contact, a bright light
2828 cast on the path of all those crossing his; and
2929 WHEREAS, In the briefest of 30 years, Worth Harrison touched
3030 countless lives, leaving in each a smile, a warm heart, and a
3131 feeling that life can be better if each individual reaches out to
3232 others as he did; optimistic and bold, he modeled the belief that
3333 every day is an opportunity to be lived to the fullest; now,
3434 therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3636 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of one of its past
3737 employees, Worth McKinley Harrison, and extend deepest sympathy to
3838 the members of his family: to his parents, Guy and Lucy Harrison; to
3939 his brother, with whom he shared a bond beyond all others, Parker
4040 Harrison, and his wife, Sunshine; to his niece, Rainy; to his
4141 nephew, Tate; and to all those who mourn his passing; and, be it
4242 further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4545 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Worth
4646 McKinley Harrison.
