6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, With the passing of Worth McKinley Harrison of |

7 | 7 | | Longview, at the age of 30, Texas lost a young man who had shown |
---|
8 | 8 | | great interest in the legislative and political processes of our |
---|
9 | 9 | | state; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born on June 21, 1978, in Dallas, Worth Harrison |
---|
11 | 11 | | attended Longview High School and studied at Texas Christian |
---|
12 | 12 | | University, where he was active in the affairs of both the school |
---|
13 | 13 | | and his chosen fraternity, Kappa Sigma; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Harrison departed TCU with a desire to learn |
---|
15 | 15 | | about and be directly involved in the political process of the Lone |
---|
16 | 16 | | Star State; he furthered that interest by serving as an assistant |
---|
17 | 17 | | sergeant in the sergeant at arms office of the Texas Senate during |
---|
18 | 18 | | the 78th Legislative Session and as an intern in the office of |
---|
19 | 19 | | Senator Eliot Shapleigh; dedicated to public service, he went on to |
---|
20 | 20 | | assist the citizens of Texas House District 7 as a staff member in |
---|
21 | 21 | | the office of Representative Tommy Merritt; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, After his work with the Texas House and Senate, this |
---|
23 | 23 | | notable young man joined the law firm of Segal McCambridge Singer |
---|
24 | 24 | | and Mahoney in Austin as a temporary employee, and his exceptional |
---|
25 | 25 | | talent and winning personality soon earned him a full-time |
---|
26 | 26 | | position; continuing old and forging new friendships, he was an |
---|
27 | 27 | | inspiration to those with whom he came in contact, a bright light |
---|
28 | 28 | | cast on the path of all those crossing his; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, In the briefest of 30 years, Worth Harrison touched |
---|
30 | 30 | | countless lives, leaving in each a smile, a warm heart, and a |
---|
31 | 31 | | feeling that life can be better if each individual reaches out to |
---|
32 | 32 | | others as he did; optimistic and bold, he modeled the belief that |
---|
33 | 33 | | every day is an opportunity to be lived to the fullest; now, |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of one of its past |

37 | 37 | | employees, Worth McKinley Harrison, and extend deepest sympathy to |

38 | 38 | | the members of his family: to his parents, Guy and Lucy Harrison; to |
---|
39 | 39 | | his brother, with whom he shared a bond beyond all others, Parker |

40 | 40 | | Harrison, and his wife, Sunshine; to his niece, Rainy; to his |

41 | 41 | | nephew, Tate; and to all those who mourn his passing; and, be it |
