| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passing of Ruben Villarreal Guerra of San Antonio on March 7, 2009, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the age of 93; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on July 18, 1915, Ruby Villarreal left her |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | native Piedras Negras, Mexico, for San Antonio during the Mexican |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Revolution; once she was old enough to work, she helped run a candy |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | shop with her grandmother at the Progreso Theater, where she also |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | worked as a ticket taker; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She married Edmundo Guerra in 1938, and they became |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the parents of a daughter, Yolanda; when Mrs. Guerra's |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | sister-in-law died in 1947, she and her husband took in the deceased |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | woman's four children and raised them as their own; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The couple worked hard to provide for a family that |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | had suddenly grown larger; Mr. Guerra held down two jobs, while Mrs. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Guerra devoted herself to taking care of the household; her |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | nurturing guidance helped the young people to grow into responsible |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | adults who distinguished themselves in a variety of fields; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, An admirable woman who always put others' needs |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | before her own, Ruby Guerra was known for her kindness and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | generosity, and these qualities will long resonate in the hearts of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | her loved ones and all who were privileged to share in her company; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ruby Villarreal |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Guerra and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | her nieces, Teresa Rodriguez and Janie Mora; to her nephews, Santos |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and Jesse Villarreal; to her son-in-law, Carmelo Rivas; to her |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | three grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 35 | 35 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |

| 36 | 36 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ruby |
