H.R. No. 1179
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Odin and Clara Clay are being recognized by the
Press Women of Texas on April 25, 2009, for their work in writing,
photography, and oratory; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Clay is being honored with three first-place
awards, one for a column and photos in Texas Outdoors Journal, one
for a poem published in Potpourri, and a third for a photo in
Potpourri; he is also receiving numerous second-place awards for
his writing and photography and also for a speech he delivered to a
photo club; and
WHEREAS, Equally accomplished, Mrs. Clay is receiving three
first-place awards, two of which pay tribute to her work as a
publicist; in addition, her chapbook of poetry, Rhyme Time, also
garnered a first-place commendation, and she will be given
second-place awards for her work in disciplines that include
photography and feature writing; and
WHEREAS, Odin and Clara Clay are making notable contributions
to the rich creative tradition of the Lone Star State, and their
achievements are justly recognized with these honors; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Odin and Clara Clay on winning
multiple prizes from the Press Women of Texas and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Clay as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
