| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, South Houston Intermediate School in Pasadena |

| 7 | 7 | | Model School by the International Center for Leadership in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Education (ICLE); and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Led by principal Laura Gomez, South Houston earned |

| 10 | 10 | | the National Model School distinction because of significant gains |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | made in student achievement for three consecutive years and in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | recognition of ongoing efforts toward higher standards and greater |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | rigor in instruction; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Pasadena district itself also has been |

| 15 | 15 | | recognized by ICLE as a National Model School District; and |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A good education provides a strong foundation for |

| 17 | 17 | | the future well-being, not only of the students involved, but also |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of the state as a whole, and this award recognizes the commitment of |

| 19 | 19 | | the faculty, staff, students, and parents of South Houston |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Intermediate School to educational excellence; now, therefore, be |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
