44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Helen
66 Ann Wade of Jacksonville, who died on March 15, 2009, at the age of
77 57; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on August 20, 1951, to Joyce and John R. Barber,
99 Helen Wade was a graduate of Jacksonville High School; she pursued a
1010 career in the financial services industry, working for Texas Bank
1111 and Trust for 25 years and, more recently, as a field representative
1212 with Woodmen of the World; she also was a substitute teacher; and
1313 WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Mrs. Wade was actively engaged
1414 in the life of her community, and she was involved with the PTA, the
1515 Boy Scouts, the Quarterback Club, the Career Women's Civic Club,
1616 Junior Achievement, United Fund, and the Cherokee County Red Cross,
1717 among others; she was chair of the March of Dimes, Heart Walk, and
1818 Western Week, and she was an officer of the Jacksonville Soccer
1919 Association, lodge secretary of Woodmen of the World for 25 years,
2020 and a member of the board of directors of the chamber of commerce;
2121 and
2222 WHEREAS, For her tireless efforts in behalf of Jacksonville,
2323 she was recognized as Businesswoman of the Year by the chamber of
2424 commerce, and on two occasions she was named Woman of the Year by
2525 the Career Women's Civic Club; and
2626 WHEREAS, Helen Wade was a loving wife and a devoted mother and
2727 grandmother who was proud to live on a farm that had been in her
2828 family for more than a century; although she was taken much too
2929 soon, the memory of her courage, optimism, and community spirit
3030 will live forever in the hearts of all those who cared for her; now,
3131 therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3333 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Helen Ann Wade and
3434 extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
3535 husband of 39 years, Stanley Wade; to her mother, Joyce Barber; to
3636 her daughter, Wendy Wade; to her son, Greg Wade, and his wife,
3737 Elizabeth; to her granddaughters, Brooklyn Hunter and Lauren Wade;
3838 and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4141 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Helen Ann
4242 Wade.
