5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Helen |
---|
6 | 6 | | Ann Wade of Jacksonville, who died on March 15, 2009, at the age of |

7 | 7 | | 57; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on August 20, 1951, to Joyce and John R. Barber, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Helen Wade was a graduate of Jacksonville High School; she pursued a |
---|
10 | 10 | | career in the financial services industry, working for Texas Bank |
---|
11 | 11 | | and Trust for 25 years and, more recently, as a field representative |
---|
12 | 12 | | with Woodmen of the World; she also was a substitute teacher; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Mrs. Wade was actively engaged |
---|
14 | 14 | | in the life of her community, and she was involved with the PTA, the |
---|
15 | 15 | | Boy Scouts, the Quarterback Club, the Career Women's Civic Club, |
---|
16 | 16 | | Junior Achievement, United Fund, and the Cherokee County Red Cross, |
---|
17 | 17 | | among others; she was chair of the March of Dimes, Heart Walk, and |
---|
18 | 18 | | Western Week, and she was an officer of the Jacksonville Soccer |
---|
19 | 19 | | Association, lodge secretary of Woodmen of the World for 25 years, |
---|
20 | 20 | | and a member of the board of directors of the chamber of commerce; |
---|
21 | 21 | | and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, For her tireless efforts in behalf of Jacksonville, |
---|
23 | 23 | | she was recognized as Businesswoman of the Year by the chamber of |
---|
24 | 24 | | commerce, and on two occasions she was named Woman of the Year by |
---|
25 | 25 | | the Career Women's Civic Club; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Helen Wade was a loving wife and a devoted mother and |
---|
27 | 27 | | grandmother who was proud to live on a farm that had been in her |
---|
28 | 28 | | family for more than a century; although she was taken much too |
---|
29 | 29 | | soon, the memory of her courage, optimism, and community spirit |
---|
30 | 30 | | will live forever in the hearts of all those who cared for her; now, |
---|
31 | 31 | | therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Helen Ann Wade and |
---|
34 | 34 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |
---|
35 | 35 | | husband of 39 years, Stanley Wade; to her mother, Joyce Barber; to |
---|
36 | 36 | | her daughter, Wendy Wade; to her son, Greg Wade, and his wife, |

37 | 37 | | Elizabeth; to her granddaughters, Brooklyn Hunter and Lauren Wade; |

38 | 38 | | and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
