| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Tommie |

| 6 | 6 | | Fay Holcomb Darby of Jacksonville, who died on March 20, 2009, at |

| 7 | 7 | | the age of 68; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Huntsville on August 6, 1940, to Jim and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Virgie Holcomb, Tommie Fay Holcomb graduated from Jacksonville High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School in 1958 in the top 10 of her class; that same year, she |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | married Roy Darby, with whom she shared a rewarding relationship |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | that spanned a half-century; the couple's life together was further |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | enriched by the addition of their son, James, to their family; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Darby was employed as a secretary at McElmurry |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Motors and Nichols Industry and went on to establish a notable |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 21-year career with the Jacksonville Independent School District |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | before her retirement; she was a charter member of Tabernacle |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Tommie Fay Darby lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of all |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | those who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Tommie Fay Holcomb |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Darby and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: |

| 25 | 25 | | to her husband, Roy Darby; to her son, James Bryant Darby; to her |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | sister, Ann Hughes; and to her other relatives and many friends; |

| 27 | 27 | | and, be it further |
