44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Tommie
66 Fay Holcomb Darby of Jacksonville, who died on March 20, 2009, at
77 the age of 68; and
88 WHEREAS, Born in Huntsville on August 6, 1940, to Jim and
99 Virgie Holcomb, Tommie Fay Holcomb graduated from Jacksonville High
1010 School in 1958 in the top 10 of her class; that same year, she
1111 married Roy Darby, with whom she shared a rewarding relationship
1212 that spanned a half-century; the couple's life together was further
1313 enriched by the addition of their son, James, to their family; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mrs. Darby was employed as a secretary at McElmurry
1515 Motors and Nichols Industry and went on to establish a notable
1616 21-year career with the Jacksonville Independent School District
1717 before her retirement; she was a charter member of Tabernacle
1818 Baptist Church; and
1919 WHEREAS, Tommie Fay Darby lived a caring and purposeful life,
2020 and she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of all
2121 those who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Tommie Fay Holcomb
2424 Darby and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
2525 to her husband, Roy Darby; to her son, James Bryant Darby; to her
2626 sister, Ann Hughes; and to her other relatives and many friends;
2727 and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3030 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tommie Fay
3131 Darby.
