| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Stephen F. Austin State University men's |

| 6 | 6 | | basketball team reached a new level of success during the 2008-2009 |

| 7 | 7 | | season by winning the Southland Conference Tournament and earning a |

| 8 | 8 | | bid to the NCAA Tournament; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Lumberjacks put together a conference record of |

| 10 | 10 | | 13 wins and just 3 losses to claim their second consecutive |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Southland Conference regular season championship; entering the SLC |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | tournament as the number one seed, they bested Southeastern |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Louisiana University and Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | earn a spot in the finals; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Facing off against The University of Texas at San |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Antonio in that contest, SFA seized control in the first half and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | posted a 68-57 win; it was the team's first SLC tournament crown |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | after two previous appearances in the title game; moreover, the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | victory qualified the Lumberjacks for the NCAA Tournament, giving |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | them an opportunity to contend for the national championship; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In the opening round of the NCAA's "Big Dance," SFA |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | fell to No. 3-seeded Syracuse University, but the players and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | coaches can be justifiably proud of their overall 24-8 record and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | their placement among the nation's finest college squads; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Throughout the 2008-2009 campaign, the Lumberjacks |

| 26 | 26 | | received outstanding contributions from each member of the roster: |

| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, With their exceptional performances on the court, |
