| 6 | 6 | | Start!, an innovative campaign to encourage a healthy, active |

| 7 | 7 | | lifestyle in the workplace; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Start! calls on Americans and their employers to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | create a culture of physical activity through office walking |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | programs; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The initiative centers around four key elements to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | achieve this worthwhile goal, including MyStart! Online, which |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | offers members a fitness and nutrition tracker and maps that show |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | walking paths throughout the country; the Start! Fit-Friendly |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Companies Recognition Program recognizes employers that champion |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the health of their employees and work to bolster physical |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | activity; the Start! Walking Program encourages companies to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | promote walking at work and recognizes employees who move from a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | sedentary to a more active lifestyle; and the Start! Heart Walk, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | which gives people an opportunity to improve their health through |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | walking while helping fund the fight against heart disease and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | stroke; and |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Sedentary lifestyles are contributing to an |

| 24 | 24 | | increasing number of health problems for our state's citizens, and |

| 25 | 25 | | this program helps motivate individuals to adopt and maintain |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | healthier habits; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby recognize April 8, 2009, as Start! Day at the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Capitol and extend to all participants sincere best wishes for a |
