| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Steven Shigeo Otake of Boy Scouts of America Troop |

| 6 | 6 | | No. 285 in San Antonio has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and |

| 7 | 7 | | this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |

| 9 | 9 | | honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | criteria, Mr. Otake earned the requisite 21 merit badges, including |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | those requiring expertise in such diverse areas as rifle shooting, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | aviation, and swimming, and he successfully completed an Eagle |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Scout project of benefit to Walker Ranch Historic Landmark Park; |

|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The son of Xavier and Polly Pena, this fine young |

| 17 | 17 | | Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout |

| 18 | 18 | | his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration of his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting |

| 20 | 20 | | offers; he served as troop scribe and troop representative for the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Order of the Arrow, and he is a recipient of the Arrow of Light |

| 22 | 22 | | Award; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Otake's dedication to excellence and his |

| 24 | 24 | | perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to |

| 25 | 25 | | stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride |

| 26 | 26 | | on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
