5	5	WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of
6	6	U.S. Army First Lieutenant Timothy Wayne Cunningham, who died on
7	7	April 23, 2008, at the age of 26; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment,
9	9	1st Combat Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division out of Fort
10	10	Campbell, Kentucky, Lieutenant Cunningham lost his life as a result
11	11	of injuries suffered during a vehicle incident in Golden Hills,
12	12	Iraq; and
13	13	WHEREAS, Tim Cunningham was born in Houston on January 22,
14	14	1982, to John and Cindy Cunningham; after spending his early years
15	15	in Houston, Hurst, and Rusk, he moved with his family to Alvin,
16	16	where he graduated from high school; and
17	17	WHEREAS, During his school years, this energetic and outgoing
18	18	young Texan served on the student council, participated in track
19	19	and baseball, and earned membership in the National Honor Society;
20	20	the son of a Baptist minister, he was also extremely involved in
21	21	church activities, volunteering in the community and traveling on
22	22	mission trips to Brazil and Mexico; and
23	23	WHEREAS, Mr. Cunningham attended Texas A&M on a Navy ROTC
24	24	scholarship, serving as company chaplain; after a year, he decided
25	25	to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, John, and entered
26	26	the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he
27	27	graduated in 2006 as a first lieutenant with a degree in nuclear
28	28	engineering; and
29	29	WHEREAS, That same year he married his high school
30	30	sweetheart, the former Samantha Ann Morgenroth, and they were
31	31	blessed with a daughter, Abigail, the following year; Lieutenant
32	32	Cunningham went on to complete the Infantry Officer Basic Course
33	33	and the Ranger School at Fort Benning, Georgia, before joining his
34	34	brother in the 101st Airborne and deploying to Iraq; and
35	35	WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, his country, and his
36	36	faith, Tim Cunningham will forever be remembered by all those who
37	37	knew and loved him as a dedicated and compassionate young man who
38	38	gave everything he had to everything he did; now, therefore, be it
39	39	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
40	40	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of First Lieutenant
41	41	Timothy Wayne Cunningham and extend sincere condolences to the
42	42	members of his family: to his wife, Samantha Cunningham; to his
43	43	daughter, Abigail Lynn Cunningham; to his parents, John and Cindy
44	44	Cunningham; to his brother, Captain John David Cunningham, and his
45	45	wife, Jamie Lynn; to his sisters, Christy Dawn, Sara Beth, and
46	46	Kelsey Lynn Cunningham; to his grandparents, Wayne and Marian
47	47	Cunningham and Edgar and Jean Jones; to his niece and nephew, Emily
48	48	and T. J. Bolton; to his in-laws, Guy, Wanda, Dylan, Dakota, and
49	49	Savannah Skinkis and Jonathan Morgenroth; and to his other
50	50	relatives and friends; and, be it further
51	51	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
52	52	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
53	53	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Timothy
54	54	Wayne Cunningham.
