| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | and shared experiences, and Charles and Gwen Swearengen of Hurst |

| 7 | 7 | | celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on January 10, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 2009; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Swearengen met while they were |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | attending Texas Christian University, and two years later the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | college sweethearts were joined in matrimony at a ceremony held at |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University Baptist Church; through the years, they have nurtured a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | fulfilling marriage and delight in their treasured family, which |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | includes two daughters, Charlene Fitzgerald and her husband, C. J., |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and Rachael Cox and her husband, Jon, as well as four grandchildren, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | J. T., David, Elizabeth, and Corbet; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Hurst for 47 years and active |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | congregants of First Methodist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Swearengen are |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | both retired; Mrs. Swearengen enjoyed a career with the Birdville |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Independent School District, while Mr. Swearengen worked for |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Lockheed Martin; since 1983, Mr. Swearengen has served as a city |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | council member, and he chairs the Finance and Investment Committee; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | he also served on the city's parks and recreation board for 18 years |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and is affiliated with the city's Crime Control District board of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | directors, the North Central Texas Council of Governments Resource |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Conservation Council, and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Commerce; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, This devoted couple have shared five decades of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Charles and Gwen Swearengen on |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best |
