No. 1287 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Katie Dyslin of Fort Worth has been recognized by the Texas Medical Association Political Action Committee with the 2009 June Bratcher Award; and WHEREAS, Known as TEXPAC, the Texas Medical Association Political Action Committee honors individuals for their significant involvement in a federal or state political campaign; modeled after the Belle Chenault Award of the American Medical Association Political Action Committee and named for the first winner of that accolade, June Bratcher of San Antonio, the award was created in 1987, and it is presented biennially to acknowledge the efforts made during the previous year's election cycle; as the 2009 recipient, Mrs. Dyslin is also the Texas nominee for the Belle Chenault Award; and WHEREAS, This committed volunteer has assisted with numerous political and health care campaigns, and she worked tirelessly through last year's elections; in addition, she has been an active member of the League of Women Voters, the Tarrant County Medical Society, and the physician and alliance community of the Texas Medical Association, and she has been a strong advocate for the pediatric patients at Cook Children's Medical Center; in all of her endeavors, Mrs. Dyslin enjoys the love and support of her husband, David, a general surgeon in Fort Worth, and she is the proud mother of two children, Ashley and Dane; and WHEREAS, Through her civic engagement, Katie Dyslin sets an example to which others may aspire and contributes to the strength and vitality of the political process in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Katie Dyslin on her receipt of the 2009 June Bratcher Award from the Texas Medical Association Political Action Committee and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Dyslin as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
