| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Katie Dyslin of Fort Worth has been recognized by |

| 6 | 6 | | the Texas Medical Association Political Action Committee with the |

| 7 | 7 | | 2009 June Bratcher Award; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Known as TEXPAC, the Texas Medical Association |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Political Action Committee honors individuals for their |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | significant involvement in a federal or state political campaign; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | modeled after the Belle Chenault Award of the American Medical |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Association Political Action Committee and named for the first |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | winner of that accolade, June Bratcher of San Antonio, the award was |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | created in 1987, and it is presented biennially to acknowledge the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | efforts made during the previous year's election cycle; as the 2009 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | recipient, Mrs. Dyslin is also the Texas nominee for the Belle |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Chenault Award; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This committed volunteer has assisted with numerous |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | political and health care campaigns, and she worked tirelessly |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | through last year's elections; in addition, she has been an active |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | member of the League of Women Voters, the Tarrant County Medical |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Society, and the physician and alliance community of the Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Medical Association, and she has been a strong advocate for the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | pediatric patients at Cook Children's Medical Center; in all of her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | endeavors, Mrs. Dyslin enjoys the love and support of her husband, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | David, a general surgeon in Fort Worth, and she is the proud mother |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of two children, Ashley and Dane; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Through her civic engagement, Katie Dyslin sets an |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | example to which others may aspire and contributes to the strength |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and vitality of the political process in the Lone Star State; now, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
