44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The seventh and eighth grade art students at Downing
66 Middle School in Flower Mound participated in a charity event that
77 raised more than $143,000 for the North Texas Food Bank; and
88 WHEREAS, Under the guidance of art instructor Deborah Cox,
99 the young artists designed 150 ceramic bowls that were donated to
1010 the 10th annual Empty Bowls project benefiting local
1111 underprivileged individuals; and
1212 WHEREAS, Downing students were among artisans from
1313 throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area who contributed their pottery
1414 for the benefit, and their handcrafted bowls were selected as
1515 mementos by attendees of the fund-raiser; local restaurants donated
1616 food for the event, and all proceeds were presented to the North
1717 Texas Food Bank; and
1818 WHEREAS, Through sharing their talents, Downing students
1919 have contributed to the well-being of others in their community,
2020 and they are to be saluted for their outstanding efforts; now,
2121 therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby commend the Art I students of Downing Middle
2424 School for participating in the Empty Bowls event for the North
2525 Texas Food Bank and extend to them sincere best wishes for the
2626 future; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2828 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2929 House of Representatives.
