| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In an exceptional display of teamwork and |

| 6 | 6 | | dedication, the Prosper Eagles football team captured the |

| 7 | 7 | | University Interscholastic League 3A Division 1 state championship |

| 8 | 8 | | on December 13, 2008, at Texas Stadium in Irving; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Prosper took the title in a hard-fought 17-10 |

| 10 | 10 | | victory over the Pirates of La Vega High School in Waco; trailing |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 10-3 at halftime, Prosper battled back with a timely interception |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | early in the second half, which was converted into a game-tying |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | touchdown; in the fourth quarter, the Eagles' running game came to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | life, and they clinched the state crown with a final touchdown in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the closing minutes of the contest; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The win capped an exciting season for the Prosper |

| 17 | 17 | | team, which lost only one game all year, went undefeated in district |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | play, and won several times by a margin of three touchdowns or more; |

| 19 | 19 | | the 2008 campaign also included a 33-7 triumph over neighboring 3A |

| 20 | 20 | | powerhouse Celina High School, a team the Eagles had not beaten in |

| 21 | 21 | | 25 years, and a thrilling 39-38 victory over Abilene Wylie, which |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | came in the second overtime period of the state semifinal game; and |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | commitment to excellence, and head coach Kent Scott and the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | student-athletes of the Prosper High School football team will |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | treasure the memory of this accomplishment for many years to come; |
