| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Gene Rush is retiring as Hockley County auditor in |

| 6 | 6 | | 2009, drawing to a close a career with county government that has |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | spanned more than two decades; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native of Levelland, Mr. Rush enjoyed a varied |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | career before he was hired as county auditor in 1987; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary 22-year tenure, Mr. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Rush has distinguished himself as Hockley County's chief financial |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | recordkeeper and compliance officer; he has been responsible for |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the oversight of the books and records of all county departments and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | officials and for enforcing the laws governing county finances; in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | fulfilling his duties, he has earned the respect and admiration of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | his colleagues and the public; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Rush's dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Hockley County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; |

| 21 | 21 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Gene Rush on his retirement as |
