| 8 | 8 | | academic, marching band, and one-act-play competitions; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Highlanders captured the cup by compiling 84 |

| 10 | 10 | | points, edging out their closest competitor, Southlake Carroll High |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | School, by four points; moreover, this was the second time in three |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | years that the school was awarded the trophy in the 5A |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | classification; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Contenders for the Lone Star Cup must demonstrate |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | superiority in a broad range of endeavors, and the student |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | competitors from The Woodlands delivered exceptional performances |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | throughout the school year; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Texas Dodge Dealers, the Lone Star |

| 19 | 19 | | Cup has become a much-sought-after prize by high schools throughout |

| 20 | 20 | | Texas, with the winning schools receiving a $1,000 scholarship in |

| 21 | 21 | | addition to the coveted trophy; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, By claiming the 5A cup, The Woodlands High School |

| 23 | 23 | | has distinguished itself as one of the top institutions in the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | state, and this achievement has furthered the school's considerable |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | reputation for athletic and academic excellence; now, therefore, be |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate The Woodlands High School on |

| 30 | 30 | | students, coaches, educators, and staff best wishes for continued |
