No. 1369 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Esteban Hinojosa, a senior at Communications Arts High School in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; and WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and WHEREAS, The son of Nancy Hinojosa, this outstanding young Texan has been involved in a number of extracurricular activities; he is an accomplished student-athlete, competing as a member of the Communications Arts varsity soccer team, on which he has served as captain, and as a member of the varsity cross-country squad; he has also distinguished himself as a member of his school's science team in UIL competition, and he is a senior mentor and a member of the student council, the National Honor Society, and the Spanish National Honor Society; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa has garnered several distinctions throughout his scholastic career, including selection as a Hispanic National Merit Scholar, an AP Scholar with honors, and homecoming king; he has also earned an exceptional grade point average of 100.18, and he plans to further his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or Stanford University; and WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his life, Esteban Hinojosa may indeed reflect with pride on his numerous accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright and promising future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Esteban Hinojosa on his selection as a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Hinojosa as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
