| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Esteban Hinojosa, a senior at Communications Arts |

| 6 | 6 | | High School in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar |

| 7 | 7 | | finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The son of Nancy Hinojosa, this outstanding young |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Texan has been involved in a number of extracurricular activities; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | he is an accomplished student-athlete, competing as a member of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Communications Arts varsity soccer team, on which he has served as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | captain, and as a member of the varsity cross-country squad; he has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | also distinguished himself as a member of his school's science team |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in UIL competition, and he is a senior mentor and a member of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | student council, the National Honor Society, and the Spanish |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | National Honor Society; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa has garnered several distinctions |

| 23 | 23 | | throughout his scholastic career, including selection as a Hispanic |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | National Merit Scholar, an AP Scholar with honors, and homecoming |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | king; he has also earned an exceptional grade point average of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | 100.18, and he plans to further his education at the Massachusetts |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Institute of Technology or Stanford University; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | life, Esteban Hinojosa may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | numerous accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and promising future; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Esteban Hinojosa on his selection |
