| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Each Member of the Texas House of Representatives |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | feels great pride in being citizens of the United States of America, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | which includes the right of citizens to petition their government |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | for redress of grievances; and, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, All Texans have benefited from this State's |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | participation in the unique experience in democracy that first |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | began on a field in Lexington, Massachusetts, and called The United |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | States of America; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Countless Texans have served in the Armed Forces of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the United States with the brave sons and daughters of all our |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | sister States to protect our State, our Nation, our Union and many |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of them gave the last full measure of devotion by offering their |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | lives to preserve that Union; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Each member of the Texas House of Representatives |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | has sworn a solemn oath to defend our National Union; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Each day, millions of Texans assemble in churches, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | synagogues, schools, arenas, fields, and homes to pledge allegiance |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | to the Flag of the United States of America and the one nation, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | indivisible, for which that Flag stands; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Texas reaffirms the pride of all Texans in both our one and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | indivisible National Union and in our one and indivisible State and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the common heritage of both; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives expresses its |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | complete and total disagreement with any fringe element advocating |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the "secession" of Texas or any other state from our one and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | indivisible Union; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House of |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Representatives is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | President of the United States of America, the Vice President of the |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | United States of America, the Speaker of the House of |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Representatives of the United States of America, and the governor |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | of each sister State as an expression of the affection of the people |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | of Texas for our one National and Indivisible Union. |
