44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Each Member of the Texas House of Representatives
66 feels great pride in being citizens of the United States of America,
77 which includes the right of citizens to petition their government
88 for redress of grievances; and,
99 WHEREAS, All Texans have benefited from this State's
1010 participation in the unique experience in democracy that first
1111 began on a field in Lexington, Massachusetts, and called The United
1212 States of America;
1313 WHEREAS, Countless Texans have served in the Armed Forces of
1414 the United States with the brave sons and daughters of all our
1515 sister States to protect our State, our Nation, our Union and many
1616 of them gave the last full measure of devotion by offering their
1717 lives to preserve that Union; and
1818 WHEREAS, Each member of the Texas House of Representatives
1919 has sworn a solemn oath to defend our National Union; and
2020 WHEREAS, Each day, millions of Texans assemble in churches,
2121 synagogues, schools, arenas, fields, and homes to pledge allegiance
2222 to the Flag of the United States of America and the one nation,
2323 indivisible, for which that Flag stands; and
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of
2525 Texas reaffirms the pride of all Texans in both our one and
2626 indivisible National Union and in our one and indivisible State and
2727 the common heritage of both; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives expresses its
2929 complete and total disagreement with any fringe element advocating
3030 the "secession" of Texas or any other state from our one and
3131 indivisible Union; and, be it further
3232 RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House of
3333 Representatives is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the
3434 President of the United States of America, the Vice President of the
3535 United States of America, the Speaker of the House of
3636 Representatives of the United States of America, and the governor
3737 of each sister State as an expression of the affection of the people
3838 of Texas for our one National and Indivisible Union.
