H.R. No. 1394
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Edward and Margery Grimes of Mineola commemorated
their 50th wedding anniversary on May 19, 2008, and they may indeed
reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Grimes and the former Margery Norris were joined
in matrimony on that special day in 1958 at a ceremony held in
Tyler; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured
family that includes two sons, Roy and Mark Grimes, two daughters,
Karen Webb and Dawn Grimes, as well as nine grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the couple are
congregants of Harvest Acres Baptist Church; Mr. Grimes worked for
Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years before his retirement, while
Mrs. Grimes retired after 20 years of employment with Southwestern
Bell Telephone Company and nine years working for Wal-Mart; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Edward and Margery Grimes on the
occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Grimes as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
