44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Edward and Margery Grimes of Mineola commemorated
66 their 50th wedding anniversary on May 19, 2008, and they may indeed
77 reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared;
88 and
99 WHEREAS, Mr. Grimes and the former Margery Norris were joined
1010 in matrimony on that special day in 1958 at a ceremony held in
1111 Tyler; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured
1212 family that includes two sons, Roy and Mark Grimes, two daughters,
1313 Karen Webb and Dawn Grimes, as well as nine grandchildren and four
1414 great-grandchildren; and
1515 WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the couple are
1616 congregants of Harvest Acres Baptist Church; Mr. Grimes worked for
1717 Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years before his retirement, while
1818 Mrs. Grimes retired after 20 years of employment with Southwestern
1919 Bell Telephone Company and nine years working for Wal-Mart; and
2020 WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
2121 half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
2222 in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
2323 has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
2424 grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2626 Legislature hereby congratulate Edward and Margery Grimes on the
2727 occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
2828 sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Grimes as an expression of high regard by
3131 the Texas House of Representatives.
