55 WHEREAS, Journalist Daniel Novick of KFOX in El Paso won the
66 2007-2008 Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Division III Best
77 Reporter Award and earned a second place finish in the same category
88 for 2008-2009; and
99 WHEREAS, Originally from Bellevue, Washington, Mr. Novick
1010 attended The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with degrees
1111 in broadcast journalism and government; he first gained experience
1212 in television on the sports staff of UT's student-run KVR-TV; and
1313 WHEREAS, After two years with the sports department at KXAN
1414 in Austin, Mr. Novick held an internship in the Washington, D.C.,
1515 bureau of El Paso's KFOX, and it was during this time that he
1616 discovered his passion for journalism and politics; and
1717 WHEREAS, Mr. Novick has since been twice recognized by the
1818 Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and
1919 Sciences, winning the 2008 EMMA Award for On-Camera Talent and the
2020 2008 EMMA Award for Magazine, which he shared with two of his
2121 colleagues; and
2222 WHEREAS, Daniel Novick has distinguished himself as an
2323 outstanding television reporter, and his dedication and hard work
2424 have greatly benefited the citizens of El Paso; now, therefore, be
2525 it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2727 Legislature hereby congratulate Daniel Novick on his awards from
2828 the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters and extend to him sincere
2929 best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for Mr. Novick as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3232 House of Representatives.
