44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, In 16 years of service as the county attorney of El
66 Paso County, Jose R. Rodriguez has established himself as a
77 concerned and dedicated leader who has made a notable contribution
88 to improving the quality of life in West Texas; and
99 WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez assumed his duties as county attorney
1010 on January 1, 1993, and since that time he has worked to uphold the
1111 mission of his office by providing high-quality legal services in
1212 an ethical, professional, and capable manner; in addition to
1313 representing El Paso County and the hospital district in all legal
1414 matters, he prosecutes juvenile crime, family violence protective
1515 orders, child abuse and neglect cases, and mental commitments; and
1616 WHEREAS, A graduate of George Washington University National
1717 Law Center, Mr. Rodriguez began his distinguished legal career as a
1818 staff attorney with the United States Department of Housing and
1919 Urban Development in Washington, D.C.; he went on to serve as legal
2020 advisor to the county judge of El Paso County and as staff attorney
2121 and director of the farmworker program of Texas Rural Legal Aid, a
2222 statewide program that addresses matters of labor and employment,
2323 housing, and civil rights; and
2424 WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez also serves as a board member of the
2525 Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund; in all of his
2626 endeavors, he is blessed with the support of his wife, Carmen, and
2727 his two children; and
2828 WHEREAS, Jose Rodriguez has demonstrated a commitment to
2929 seeking justice, securing the protection and safety of his fellow
3030 residents, and enhancing the quality of life in El Paso, and his
3131 efforts are indeed worthy of praise; now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3333 Legislature hereby honor Jose R. Rodriguez for his outstanding
3434 service as county attorney of El Paso County and extend to him
3535 sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work;
3636 and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for Mr. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the
3939 Texas House of Representatives.
