5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In 16 years of service as the county attorney of El |

6 | 6 | | Paso County, Jose R. Rodriguez has established himself as a |
---|
7 | 7 | | concerned and dedicated leader who has made a notable contribution |
---|
8 | 8 | | to improving the quality of life in West Texas; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez assumed his duties as county attorney |
---|
10 | 10 | | on January 1, 1993, and since that time he has worked to uphold the |
---|
11 | 11 | | mission of his office by providing high-quality legal services in |
---|
12 | 12 | | an ethical, professional, and capable manner; in addition to |
---|
13 | 13 | | representing El Paso County and the hospital district in all legal |
---|
14 | 14 | | matters, he prosecutes juvenile crime, family violence protective |
---|
15 | 15 | | orders, child abuse and neglect cases, and mental commitments; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of George Washington University National |
---|
17 | 17 | | Law Center, Mr. Rodriguez began his distinguished legal career as a |
---|
18 | 18 | | staff attorney with the United States Department of Housing and |
---|
19 | 19 | | Urban Development in Washington, D.C.; he went on to serve as legal |
---|
20 | 20 | | advisor to the county judge of El Paso County and as staff attorney |
---|
21 | 21 | | and director of the farmworker program of Texas Rural Legal Aid, a |
---|
22 | 22 | | statewide program that addresses matters of labor and employment, |
---|
23 | 23 | | housing, and civil rights; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez also serves as a board member of the |
---|
25 | 25 | | Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund; in all of his |
---|
26 | 26 | | endeavors, he is blessed with the support of his wife, Carmen, and |
---|
27 | 27 | | his two children; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Jose Rodriguez has demonstrated a commitment to |
---|
29 | 29 | | seeking justice, securing the protection and safety of his fellow |
---|
30 | 30 | | residents, and enhancing the quality of life in El Paso, and his |
---|
31 | 31 | | efforts are indeed worthy of praise; now, therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby honor Jose R. Rodriguez for his outstanding |
---|
34 | 34 | | service as county attorney of El Paso County and extend to him |
---|
35 | 35 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; |
