44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The State of Texas is widely respected for its
66 diverse and distinctive foods and for its many highly regarded
77 restaurants; and
88 WHEREAS, While exceptional eateries can be found throughout
99 the state, certain communities stand apart for offering a
1010 concentration of popular and unique restaurants; of these, the city
1111 of Roanoke is deserving of particular recognition for being an
1212 immensely popular dining destination; and
1313 WHEREAS, Roanoke is of modest size, with a population of
1414 6,450, yet its lineup of notable restaurants attracts patrons from
1515 throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex as well as from other
1616 parts of the state; this charming city includes 39 eating
1717 establishments, and they combine to make Roanoke a diner's delight;
1818 and
1919 WHEREAS, Oak Street in downtown Roanoke is a compelling
2020 destination for patrons, and the many vintage buildings in this
2121 attractive district have earned it a spot on the National Register
2222 of Historic Places; moreover, the downtown businesses present a
2323 great variety of cuisines and dining experiences, ranging from
2424 four-star gourmet food to Mexican specialties; and
2525 WHEREAS, Not far away, more thriving restaurants are found
2626 along Highway 377/Front Street, and other areas of Roanoke also
2727 uphold the city's tradition of good eating; these include the Byron
2828 Nelson Parkway/Business 114 thoroughfare and the intersection of
2929 Highways 377 and 114; and
3030 WHEREAS, The individuality and outstanding quality of
3131 Roanoke's dining spots have earned this historic community the
3232 admiration of numerous food enthusiasts and have made it a favorite
3333 place to visit, and the city's flourishing restaurant scene is a
3434 testament to the eclectic and delicious epicurean offerings of the
3535 Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3737 Legislature hereby honor the city of Roanoke for being an
3838 exceptional Texas dining destination and commend its restaurant
3939 proprietors for furthering the state's reputation for culinary
4040 excellence.
