| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The State of Texas is widely respected for its |

| 6 | 6 | | diverse and distinctive foods and for its many highly regarded |

| 7 | 7 | | restaurants; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, While exceptional eateries can be found throughout |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the state, certain communities stand apart for offering a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | concentration of popular and unique restaurants; of these, the city |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of Roanoke is deserving of particular recognition for being an |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | immensely popular dining destination; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Roanoke is of modest size, with a population of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 6,450, yet its lineup of notable restaurants attracts patrons from |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex as well as from other |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | parts of the state; this charming city includes 39 eating |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | establishments, and they combine to make Roanoke a diner's delight; |

| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Oak Street in downtown Roanoke is a compelling |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | destination for patrons, and the many vintage buildings in this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | attractive district have earned it a spot on the National Register |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of Historic Places; moreover, the downtown businesses present a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | great variety of cuisines and dining experiences, ranging from |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | four-star gourmet food to Mexican specialties; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Not far away, more thriving restaurants are found |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | along Highway 377/Front Street, and other areas of Roanoke also |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | uphold the city's tradition of good eating; these include the Byron |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Nelson Parkway/Business 114 thoroughfare and the intersection of |

| 29 | 29 | | Highways 377 and 114; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The individuality and outstanding quality of |

| 31 | 31 | | Roanoke's dining spots have earned this historic community the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | admiration of numerous food enthusiasts and have made it a favorite |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | place to visit, and the city's flourishing restaurant scene is a |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | testament to the eclectic and delicious epicurean offerings of the |

| 35 | 35 | | Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby honor the city of Roanoke for being an |

| 38 | 38 | | exceptional Texas dining destination and commend its restaurant |
