44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Randall J. Hayes is retiring from the Texas Parks
66 and Wildlife Department in April 2009, drawing to a close a notable
77 career that has spanned more than three decades; and
88 WHEREAS, Mr. Hayes earned his bachelor's degree in biology
99 from The University of Texas at Arlington, and in 1976 he went to
1010 work with the Arlington Police Department; he graduated from Parks
1111 and Wildlife's Warden Cadet Class in 1984, and since then, except
1212 for two years with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department in
1313 Louisiana, he has been a game warden with TPWD, working in Denton
1414 County, Nueces County, and Parker County; and
1515 WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary service as a game
1616 warden, Mr. Hayes has distinguished himself in his efforts to
1717 protect the wildlife and natural resources of Texas and to ensure
1818 the safety of the public; he has been a certified marine safety
1919 officer instructor, boater/angler/hunter education instructor, and
2020 peace officer classroom instructor; and
2121 WHEREAS, Mr. Hayes has been a leader in the enforcement of
2222 boating regulations, and his experience and investigative skills
2323 have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, as well as
2424 numerous awards, including recognition as 2006 Texas Wildlife
2525 Officer of the Year by the conservation organization Shikar Safari
2626 Club International; and
2727 WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, he has also
2828 found time to give back to his community by providing hunting and
2929 fishing opportunities for residents of several youth homes, helping
3030 young people learn to appreciate and enjoy the outdoors; and
3131 WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to
3232 excellence of this outstanding Texas game warden have greatly
3333 benefited his fellow citizens, and he may indeed reflect with pride
3434 on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of
3535 his life; now, therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3737 Legislature hereby congratulate Randall J. Hayes on his retirement
3838 from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and extend to him
3939 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4141 prepared for Mr. Hayes as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4242 House of Representatives.
