5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Randall J. Hayes is retiring from the Texas Parks |
---|
6 | 6 | | and Wildlife Department in April 2009, drawing to a close a notable |
---|
7 | 7 | | career that has spanned more than three decades; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hayes earned his bachelor's degree in biology |
---|
9 | 9 | | from The University of Texas at Arlington, and in 1976 he went to |
---|
10 | 10 | | work with the Arlington Police Department; he graduated from Parks |
---|
11 | 11 | | and Wildlife's Warden Cadet Class in 1984, and since then, except |
---|
12 | 12 | | for two years with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department in |
---|
13 | 13 | | Louisiana, he has been a game warden with TPWD, working in Denton |
---|
14 | 14 | | County, Nueces County, and Parker County; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary service as a game |
---|
16 | 16 | | warden, Mr. Hayes has distinguished himself in his efforts to |
---|
17 | 17 | | protect the wildlife and natural resources of Texas and to ensure |
---|
18 | 18 | | the safety of the public; he has been a certified marine safety |
---|
19 | 19 | | officer instructor, boater/angler/hunter education instructor, and |
---|
20 | 20 | | peace officer classroom instructor; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hayes has been a leader in the enforcement of |
---|
22 | 22 | | boating regulations, and his experience and investigative skills |
---|
23 | 23 | | have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, as well as |
---|
24 | 24 | | numerous awards, including recognition as 2006 Texas Wildlife |
---|
25 | 25 | | Officer of the Year by the conservation organization Shikar Safari |
---|
26 | 26 | | Club International; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, he has also |
---|
28 | 28 | | found time to give back to his community by providing hunting and |
---|
29 | 29 | | fishing opportunities for residents of several youth homes, helping |
---|
30 | 30 | | young people learn to appreciate and enjoy the outdoors; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to |
---|
32 | 32 | | excellence of this outstanding Texas game warden have greatly |
---|
33 | 33 | | benefited his fellow citizens, and he may indeed reflect with pride |
---|
34 | 34 | | on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of |
---|
35 | 35 | | his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Randall J. Hayes on his retirement |
---|
38 | 38 | | from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and extend to him |
---|
39 | 39 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

41 | 41 | | prepared for Mr. Hayes as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
