| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |

| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Gladys and George Picha of Waco |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 26, 2007; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, George Picha and the former Gladys Pustejovsky were |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | united in matrimony at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in Abbott on that special day in 1957; they are the parents of five |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | children, Janet, David, Dale, Julie, and the late Donald Picha, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | they have shared in welcoming into their family seven |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | grandchildren, Brad, Brian, Hillary, Joshua, Mary Katherine, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sarah, and Thomas; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Picha answered his nation's call to duty with |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked for the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | United States Postal Service for 37 years; now retired, he enjoys |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | woodworking, fishing, and gardening; also an avid gardener, Mrs. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Picha belongs to the Waco Herb Society; the couple are both members |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Pro-Life Waco organization, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and they also enjoy traveling; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | has enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Gladys and George Picha on reaching |

| 29 | 29 | | this milestone in their lives together and extend to them sincere |
