| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of her exemplary charitable and |

| 6 | 6 | | community service work, Jana Hunter-Kovar has been named the winner |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of the 2009 Women in Service and Enterprise Award from Mesquite |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Social Services; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Hunter-Kovar has contributed her time and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | talents to support a range of worthwhile causes, organizations, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | civic groups; a longtime member of the Mesquite Service League, she |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | has helped raise thousands of dollars for the many beneficial |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | initiatives sponsored by the league; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This dedicated civic leader has served on the City |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of Mesquite Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Mesquite |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Chamber of Commerce Board, and she was a vital member of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Mesquite Social Services Executive Board, filling the position of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | chair in 2007; moreover, her tenure as president of the Mesquite |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Symphony Guild Board in 2008 included assignments as chair of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Debutante Ball and the Symphony Style Show; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Widely respected for her selfless volunteerism, Ms. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Hunter-Kovar has received a number of honors, including recognition |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | as the Mesquite Social Services Star Board Member in 2003 and 2006 |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and as the recipient of its Outstanding Commitment and Achievement |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Award in 2004; moreover, she was named the 2005-2006 Volunteer of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the Year by the Mesquite Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Hunter-Kovar enjoys the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | love and support of her husband, Mike, and her daughters, Kyleigh |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and Kaitlin, both of whom have been previously named Mesquite |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Symphony Guild debutantes; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Jana Hunter-Kovar's enduring commitment to her |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | community has helped to make the Mesquite area an even better place |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | in which to live and work, and her efforts are indeed deserving of |

| 34 | 34 | | special recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jana Hunter-Kovar on her receipt of |
