| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Alex Priakos has distinguished herself as executive |

| 6 | 6 | | director of Mesquite Social Services; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, MSS is a crisis relief agency that provides food and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | financial assistance to needy families in Mesquite, Sunnyvale, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Seagoville, and Balch Springs; each year, the organization serves |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | some 10,000 individuals; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Liberty University, Ms. Priakos is a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | former business owner who was inspired to pursue a career in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | nonprofit sector after working for the Girl Scouts in Oklahoma; she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | joined MSS in the summer of 2008, and since accepting that post she |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | has overseen a job program that offers GED, English as a Second |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Language, job readiness, job etiquette, basic computer, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | financial literacy training; her goals for the agency include |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | adding financial help with health care to the list of available |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | services; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Alex Priakos has brought deeply caring, committed, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and energetic leadership to her work at Mesquite Social Services, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and together with that agency's skilled and dedicated staff, she is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | providing programs of immeasurable value to many Texans; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby honor Alex Priakos for her outstanding work as |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | executive director of Mesquite Social Services and extend to her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; |
