| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Residents of the Lone Star State are gathering in |

| 7 | 7 | | support of U.S. soldiers at the Bands for Brothers and Sisters |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Concert on May 23, 2009, in Pasadena; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Hosted by the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the Bay Area Builders Association, and KILT-FM, the event raises |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | funds for the construction of homes for severely wounded service |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan; in addition to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | concert, the weekend festivities include a golf tournament and a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | black-tie benefit; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The organizations behind this significant effort |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | have created a partnership with government agencies, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | manufacturers, private donors, businesses, and volunteers to offer |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | housing at no cost to injured American soldiers; the goals of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | program are to lessen the financial burden for military personnel, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | aid in their recovery, and provide a home for their families; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Our nation's servicemen and servicewomen render |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | service and sacrifice that are truly beyond measure, and such |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | events as the Bands for Brothers and Sisters Concert help to ensure |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | that these brave Americans are duly honored and supported by their |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | communities; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 Bands for Brothers and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Sisters Concert and extend to its organizers and attendees sincere |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | best wishes for a memorable and successful event; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | prepared for the host organizations as an expression of high regard |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | by the Texas House of Representatives. |
