5	5	WHEREAS, The untimely death of attorney William Dean Peisen
6	6	on April 9, 2009, at the age of 51, has deeply saddened the Rio
7	7	Grande Valley community and brought a great loss to his family and
8	8	friends; and
9	9	WHEREAS, The son of Jo Anne and George Peisen, Bill Peisen was
10	10	born on October 10, 1957, in Eldora, Iowa; he graduated from Iowa
11	11	State University with a bachelor's degree in economics and went on
12	12	to law school there, serving on the board of editors of the Iowa Law
13	13	Review and graduating with distinction; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Mr. Peisen was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1983 and
15	15	to the bar of the United States District Court for the Southern
16	16	District of Texas the following year; board certified in civil
17	17	trial law, he focused his successful solo practice on civil trial
18	18	and appellate law with an emphasis on commercial litigation, and he
19	19	was greatly respected for his knowledge, his professionalism, and
20	20	his confident and courteous manner in the courtroom; and
21	21	WHEREAS, A dedicated civic leader, he served on the board of
22	22	the McAllen Independent School District from 1996 to 2002,
23	23	including one year as president; moreover, he gave generously of
24	24	his time and talent for many years to the McAllen Youth Soccer
25	25	League and to various school activities; he served on the board of
26	26	the McAllen Airport and provided his legal counsel to St. John's
27	27	Episcopal School on a pro bono basis; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Known as a true gentleman, Bill Peisen won many
29	29	friends with his warmth, kindness, and delightful sense of humor,
30	30	and memories of him will be forever cherished by those who were
31	31	privileged to share in his love and affection; now, therefore, be it
32	32	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
33	33	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bill Peisen and extend
34	34	sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Val
35	35	Peisen; to his children, Marty, Grant, Lisa Marie, Alex, and
36	36	Jessica; to his father, George Peisen; to his brother, John Peisen,
37	37	and his wife, Mary; to his father-in-law, Joe LaMantia, Jr., and his
38	38	wife, Derrelene; to his brothers-in-law, Joe LaMantia III and his
39	39	wife, Marilyn, Greg LaMantia and his wife, Dru, Steve LaMantia and
40	40	his wife, Linda, and Tony LaMantia and his wife, Jennifer; and to
41	41	his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
42	42	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
43	43	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
44	44	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill
45	45	Peisen.
