| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Mexican-American Chambers |

| 6 | 6 | | of Commerce is holding its ninth annual Legislative Awards Gala on |

| 7 | 7 | | January 27, 2009, and this event provides a fitting opportunity to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | pay tribute to this notable group; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1975, TAMACC strives to strengthen the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | coalition of Hispanic business owners around the state, stimulate |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | new enterprises in Hispanic communities, disseminate useful |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | information to members, and advocate for Hispanic business in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | international trade development, consumer affairs, and public |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | policy; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The organization was originally composed of a small |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | group of forward-looking Hispanic business owners and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | professionals; today, it consists of 27 member chambers of commerce |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and 20 corporate partners, representing 15,000 Hispanic |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | professionals throughout the state; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In July 2006, the TAMACC Educational Development |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Foundation cohosted the first annual High School Business |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Leadership Seminars at The University of Texas at El Paso; in an |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | effort to inspire future entrepreneurs and community leaders, the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | event features role models from business, public service, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | education who offer valuable advice to the young men and women in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | attendance; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, TAMACC serves as an important resource for Hispanic |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | businesses in Texas as well as for future business leaders, and it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | is a pleasure to recognize this notable group for its vision and its |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | dedication to its worthy goals; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commend the Texas Association of |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Mexican-American Chambers of Commerce for its outstanding service |

| 34 | 34 | | and extend to its members best wishes for a memorable Legislative |
