5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Captain Johnny Mynar retired from the McLennan |
---|
6 | 6 | | County Sheriff's Office after 34 years of service on November 30, |
---|
7 | 7 | | 2008, drawing to a close an exemplary career in law enforcement; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Captain Mynar's notable tenure encompassed several |
---|
9 | 9 | | different assignments with the sheriff's office; beginning as a |
---|
10 | 10 | | jailer, he was soon promoted to the position of bailiff for the 54th |
---|
11 | 11 | | District Court and worked for Judges Carl C. Anderson and Walter |
---|
12 | 12 | | Smith; in 1982, he became the day shift supervisor, and while in |
---|
13 | 13 | | that position, he earned the rank of sergeant when the sheriff's |
---|
14 | 14 | | office instituted a rank structure for its uniformed personnel; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Promoted to lieutenant in 1989, he took on the |
---|
16 | 16 | | responsibilities of being assistant jail administrator, and his |
---|
17 | 17 | | outstanding performance in that capacity led to his appointment as |
---|
18 | 18 | | jail administrator and his promotion to the rank of captain in 1998; |
---|
19 | 19 | | these administrative positions enabled Captain Mynar to play an |
---|
20 | 20 | | instrumental role in developing the McLennan County Jail Division |
---|
21 | 21 | | and helping it to effectively adapt to the challenges presented by a |
---|
22 | 22 | | growing county and an increasing inmate population; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This respected officer was a member of the American |
---|
24 | 24 | | Jail Association, the Texas Jail Association, the Commission on |
---|
25 | 25 | | Jail Standards, and the Texas Association of Counties, and his |
---|
26 | 26 | | affiliation with those organizations allowed him to learn from and |
---|
27 | 27 | | share valuable information with colleagues throughout Texas; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, An assured leader in a range of endeavors, Captain |
---|
29 | 29 | | Mynar was a member of the school board for the West Independent |
---|
30 | 30 | | School District for six years and is a former president and longtime |
---|
31 | 31 | | member of the West Kiwanis; he currently serves as president of the |
---|
32 | 32 | | Cottonwood Water Board and holds a seat on the board of the West |
---|
33 | 33 | | Fair and Rodeo; he and his wife, Cheryl, reside in West, and Mr. |
---|
34 | 34 | | Mynar is looking forward to spending more time on their farm during |
---|
35 | 35 | | his retirement years; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Johnny Mynar |
---|
37 | 37 | | distinguished himself in his efforts to serve and protect the |
---|
38 | 38 | | citizens of McLennan County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on |
---|
39 | 39 | | his outstanding record of achievement during his years in uniform; |
---|
40 | 40 | | now, therefore, be it |
---|
41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
42 | 42 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Johnny Mynar on his retirement from |
---|
43 | 43 | | the McLennan County Sheriff's Office and extend to him sincere best |
---|
44 | 44 | | wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
---|
45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
46 | 46 | | prepared for Captain Mynar as an expression of high regard by the |
---|
47 | 47 | | Texas House of Representatives. |
