55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, The friends and family of U.S. Marine Lieutenant
77 Corporal Johnny Ray Strong suffered an immeasurable loss with the
88 death of this valiant soldier on June 12, 2007, at the age of 21; and
99 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Corporal Strong was killed while bravely
1010 serving his country during his second tour of duty in Iraq; a native
1111 of Temple, he was born on May 24, 1986, to loving parents Steven and
1212 Jacqueline Williams Strong; and
1313 WHEREAS, Known for his joyful, gregarious nature, Lieutenant
1414 Corporal Strong enjoyed bowling, putt-putt, shooting pool,
1515 listening to music, and playing video games; above all else, he
1616 valued time spent with his family; and
1717 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. Armed
1818 Forces, Johnny Strong inspired others with his fortitude, tenacity,
1919 and courage; although his passing leaves a void in the lives of
2020 those who were fortunate enough to know him, they will forever carry
2121 memories of this beloved young man close in their hearts; now,
2222 therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2424 Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Johnny Ray
2525 Strong and extend sincere sympathy to his parents, Steven and
2626 Jacqueline Williams Strong; to his grandparents, Minerva D.
2727 Williams and Elsworth Williams, Jr., Elizabeth Merritt, and Ferrell
2828 Jeppesen; to Thomas and Gracie McGlauflin; and to all who mourn his
2929 passing; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3232 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Marine
3333 Lieutenant Corporal Johnny Ray Strong.
