44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
66 memories of Lisa Veitenheimer of Keller, who passed away on April 7,
77 2009, at the age of 49; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on May 4, 1959, in Madison, Wisconsin, Mrs.
99 Veitenheimer earned her bachelor's degree in education from
1010 Midwestern State University in 1981; she went on to serve with
1111 distinction as a second-grade teacher in the Eanes Independent
1212 School District in Austin; and
1313 WHEREAS, After a notable 17-year tenure, she relocated to
1414 Canyon, where she worked as a substitute teacher and her husband,
1515 James Veitenheimer, served as superintendent; the couple moved
1616 again in 2004, when Mr. Veitenheimer was named superintendent of
1717 Keller schools; and
1818 WHEREAS, Mrs. Veitenheimer had a passion for education and a
1919 gift for inspiring others, and she assisted many people who were in
2020 need of extra help; she devoted many hours to mentoring new teachers
2121 and to tutoring struggling students, seeking to enhance the
2222 abilities and engage the minds of all she met; and
2323 WHEREAS, Mrs. Veitenheimer also shared her time with the
2424 Keller ISD Education Foundation, which provides grants to teachers
2525 and significant educational benefits to students; a founding member
2626 of its board of directors, she aided in the formation and operation
2727 of the foundation from 2004 until the time of her passing; and
2828 WHEREAS, Lisa Veitenheimer's dynamic presence and positive
2929 spirit brought enthusiasm and ideas to Keller schools; she
3030 encouraged and supported teachers and students to grow in their
3131 scholastic endeavors, to think in new ways, and to offer their best
3232 efforts each day; she lived a caring and purposeful life, and she
3333 will always be remembered with great affection and admiration; now,
3434 therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3636 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lisa Veitenheimer and
3737 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
3838 husband, James Veitenheimer; to her daughter, Allison
3939 Veitenheimer; to her parents, John and Diane Franklin; and to her
4040 other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4242 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4343 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lisa
4444 Veitenheimer.
