| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Morning drive-time radio programs help many Texans |

| 6 | 6 | | ease into their workday, and for more than 12 years, radio |

| 7 | 7 | | personalities Dean Myers and Roger Beaty have entertained listeners |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | in Houston with their Dean and Rog morning show; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This pair of high-spirited performers began working |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | together 20 years ago at a radio station in Saginaw, Michigan, where |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | their morning show was one of the highest rated in the nation; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Dean and Rog went on to host shows in Salt Lake City, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Denver, and Phoenix; in 1997, they moved to Houston, where they |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | hosted the morning show on KKRW for many years; starting on June 1, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 2009, they will be performing on KHTC in Houston; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Their daily radio show includes such regular |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | features as the Birthday Scam, in which listeners request prank |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | calls to friends on their birthdays, and the Dean and Rog Singers, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | who perform song parodies; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Dean and Rog also give back to their community |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | through their annual golf tournament and sale of their yearly "Best |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Of" CDs, which together have raised thousands of dollars for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Houston charities; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through their good humor and irreverent wit, Dean |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Myers and Roger Beaty have helped Houstonians start their day in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | good spirits for more than a decade; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby recognize June 1, 2009, as Dean and Rog Day and |

| 29 | 29 | | extend to Dean Myers and Roger Beaty sincere best wishes for |
