| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards are being |

| 6 | 6 | | presented on May 13, 2009, in honor of citizens, communities, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | businesses, and organizations that have distinguished themselves |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | through their bold efforts to preserve and protect the environment |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of Texas; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Nominated by a blue ribbon committee and selected by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Office of the Governor and the commissioners of the Texas |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Commission on Environmental Quality, TEEA recipients have |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | voluntarily endeavored to protect our state's natural resources by |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | preventing pollution, minimizing waste, conserving water, reducing |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | energy consumption, and protecting wildlife; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The 2009 award winners include Energy Transfer |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Technologies, Mars Snackfood US LLC, Kimberly-Clark |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Corporation--Paris Plant, the Texas Department of Transportation, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Boerne Independent School District, the Texas AgriLife |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Extension Service, Build San Antonio Green, the Institute of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Environmental and Human Health, Science Rocks U-Wetlands Youth |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Brigade, and Cliff Etheredge of Roscoe; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, These environmental pacesetters are also sharing |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | their knowledge, technology, and expertise to educate Texans on how |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to protect their own communities, further contributing to the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | preservation of our state's natural resources for future |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | generations; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby recognize May 13, 2009, as Texas Environmental |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Excellence Awards Day and commend the award recipients for their |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | exemplary efforts in behalf of the Lone Star State; and, be it |
