5	5	WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
6	6	recognize January 28, 2009, as Texas Society of Certified Public
7	7	Accountants Day at the Capitol and to honor the certified public
8	8	accountants who are visiting the Capitol today; and
9	9	WHEREAS, The Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants is
10	10	a nonprofit, voluntary professional organization representing
11	11	28,000 members in 20 local chapters situated across the state; and
12	12	WHEREAS, This outstanding organization offers numerous
13	13	services and programs to its members and to those seeking to enter
14	14	the field of accountancy; the Accounting Education Foundation
15	15	provides financial assistance to students, and the Peer Review
16	16	Program and hundreds of continuing education programs keep members
17	17	up to date on the latest accounting practices and ethics
18	18	requirements; and
19	19	WHEREAS, The society has created a nonpartisan political
20	20	action committee to work with the members of the Texas Legislature;
21	21	it meets regularly with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts
22	22	and stays informed of proposed tax legislation to better understand
23	23	the impact on the Texas economy; and
24	24	WHEREAS, The Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants
25	25	contributes greatly to the economic vitality of our state, and it is
26	26	justly deserving of recognition for its many accomplishments; now,
27	27	therefore, be it
28	28	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
29	29	Legislature hereby recognize January 28, 2009, as Texas Society of
30	30	Certified Public Accountants Day at the State Capitol and commend
31	31	the organization's members for their dedication to serving the
32	32	public interest; and, be it further
33	33	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
34	34	prepared for the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants as
35	35	an expression of esteem by the Texas House of Representatives.
