| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, San Patricio County Judge Terry Simpson has been |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | elected president of the County Judges and Commissioners |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Association of Texas; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The CJCAT works to promote the interests of county |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | government through active participation in governmental affairs |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and continuing education; each of the 254 counties in Texas is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | represented in the association by its county judge and four county |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | commissioners; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Terry Simpson's service to San Patricio County began |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | after his graduation from Sinton High School in 1970, when he went |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to work for the San Patricio County Sheriff's Department as a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | dispatcher and a deputy sheriff; in 1977, he became a patrol officer |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | for the Sinton Police Department, returning to the sheriff's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | department in 1980; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In 1997, this dedicated public servant was appointed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | as justice of the peace for Precinct 1 of San Patricio County, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | in 1999, he was elected to the same position; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Simpson was elected San Patricio county judge in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 2002 and took office in 2003; he won reelection in 2006, with his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | new term beginning in 2007; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, With his election as president of the CJCAT, Judge |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Simpson will play a vital role in helping to ensure the efficiency |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and effectiveness of this important organization, and he merits |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | special commendation for his service and achievements; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Terry Simpson on his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | election as president of the County Judges and Commissioners |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Association of Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
