5	5	WHEREAS, The San Antonio chapter of the Service Corps of
6	6	Retired Executives has benefited the community for more than three
7	7	decades; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Chartered in 1975, the chapter is supported by the
9	9	U.S. Small Business Administration in its efforts to provide free
10	10	counseling and guidance to new and ongoing small businesses in San
11	11	Antonio and the surrounding area; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Membership is composed of veteran businessmen and
13	13	businesswomen who share their time and expertise with entrepreneurs
14	14	in such diverse fields as insurance, real estate, construction,
15	15	financial planning, taxes, and inventory management; and
16	16	WHEREAS, These dedicated SCORE volunteers, known as
17	17	"counselors to small business," have offered workshops on growing a
18	18	business, developing a business plan, and marketing, and they
19	19	regularly provide invaluable assistance to individuals in person
20	20	and by e-mail; moreover, they speak for free to civic clubs,
21	21	business and professional organizations, schools, neighborhood
22	22	associations, and other groups as part of the chapter's Speakers'
23	23	Bureau; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Committed to the formation, growth, and success of
25	25	small businesses, members of the San Antonio chapter of SCORE have
26	26	contributed greatly to the economic health and innovative spirit of
27	27	the Alamo City, and they are indeed worthy of special recognition;
28	28	now, therefore, be it
29	29	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
30	30	Legislature hereby commend the San Antonio chapter of SCORE for its
31	31	many years of service and extend to all those associated with the
32	32	organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
33	33	further
34	34	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
35	35	prepared for the San Antonio chapter of SCORE as an expression of
36	36	high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
