Richardson, and one of them serves today as vice president of the
 board; and
WHEREAS, In keeping with the mission and goals of the
national organization, the Richardson chapter of the league

produces candidate forums and public programs on a wide variety of
topics, featuring guest speakers with special knowledge and
expertise; like other chapters across our nation, it provides the
Guide to Elected Officials and Voters Guide, and in recent years, it
has used its website to make information accessible to a greater
 number of residents; and

better quality of life through their advocacy of solutions to
public policy issues based on intensive study and pursuit of
consensus; through the years, they have researched such matters as
land use, education, public health services, and the city charter
and have championed numerous improvements, among them unified
polling places, the city's inclusion in the Dallas Area Rapid
Transit Rail System, better regulation of child care facilities,
implementation of citywide recycling, expansion of public parks,
televising city council meetings, and raising the ratio of nursing
and counseling staff to students in public schools; and
WHEREAS, The League of Women Voters of Richardson has long
been a source of vital information and a catalyst for civic
advancement, and its members can indeed take pride in the important
role they play in elevating the public discourse and promoting
