| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The boys' basketball team of Roscoe High School |

| 6 | 6 | | reached the pinnacle of success with a 52-48 overtime victory over |

| 7 | 7 | | Plains High School to win the 2009 University Interscholastic |

| 8 | 8 | | League 1A Division 1 state championship on March 14, 2009, at the |

| 9 | 9 | | Frank Erwin Center in Austin; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Finishing the year with a stellar record of 28 wins |

| 11 | 11 | | and just 4 losses, the Plowboys captured the first basketball title |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | in the school's history in what was their very first trip to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | state tournament; the team advanced through the playoffs with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | victories over Santo, Archer City, Poolville, Goldthwaite, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Italy High Schools, before besting Tenaha in the tournament |

| 16 | 16 | | semifinals; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In the championship game, Roscoe benefited from the |

| 18 | 18 | | 17 points and 9 rebounds tallied by Caden Smith and the 14 points |

| 19 | 19 | | scored by Jacob Villanueva, while Mr. Villanueva's twin brother, |

| 20 | 20 | | Jared, came up with 9 crucial points in overtime to secure the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | victory; in addition, valuable contributions to the team's success |

| 22 | 22 | | were provided throughout the year by the other members of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Plowboy roster: Garrison Williams, Justin Gonzales, Zach |

| 24 | 24 | | Gutierrez, and Trae Howard; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Head coach Johnny Martin, in his 30th year at |

| 26 | 26 | | Roscoe, as well as assistant coaches Chuck Cathey and Jonathan |

| 27 | 27 | | Haseloff, provided outstanding guidance to the Plowboys, inspiring |

| 28 | 28 | | them to give their all in each and every game; and |

| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the goal of every |

| 30 | 30 | | high school athlete; the hard work and dedication demonstrated by |

| 31 | 31 | | Roscoe's talented basketball players have enabled them to realize |

| 32 | 32 | | that dream, and they will forever treasure their memories of this |
