| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ernesto J. Dominguez has received the John E. Cook |

| 6 | 6 | | Pro Bono Award from the Hidalgo County Bar Association; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Born in Hondo on August 11, 1955, Ernesto Dominguez |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | went on to earn a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Austin in 1976 and a law degree from the University of Notre Dame in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1986, and while he was a student, he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Law Fraternity, International; in 1987, he was admitted to the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | State Bar of Texas, and he is currently an attorney with Orendain & |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Dominguez, a McAllen firm specializing in general civil trial |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | practice, personal injury, insurance law, and family law; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. Dominguez has maintained |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | affiliations with the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the American |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Association for Justice, the Hidalgo County Bar Association, the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | State Bar of Texas, and the College of the State Bar of Texas, and he |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | served on the board of directors of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid from |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 1998 through 2002; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | support of his wife, Iris Aguilar Dominguez, who is also a lawyer |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and practices with the office of the city attorney in McAllen; the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | couple have been blessed with a daughter, Paloma Alexandra |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Dominguez, a student at Our Lady of Sorrows, and Mr. Dominguez has |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | served as president of the school's advisory council; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, With the utmost dedication to his profession and to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | his community, Mr. Dominguez has garnered the lasting respect and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | admiration of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike, and he may |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | indeed reflect with great pride on his notable achievements and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Ernesto J. Dominguez on his receipt |

| 34 | 34 | | of the John E. Cook Pro Bono Award from the Hidalgo County Bar |
