| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Kim Caston has served as a trustee of the Richardson |

| 6 | 6 | | Independent School District since 2007, demonstrating admirable |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | dedication to her community and its children; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The treasurer of the board, Ms. Caston had already |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | served the district in numerous capacities before her election; she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | fulfilled five terms as president of the Parent Teacher Association |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and served on the RISD Council of PTAs and the RISD Budget Review |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Team; in addition, she chaired the 2006 Vote Yes RISD community bond |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | campaign; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Caston has also worked with the Texas PTA on |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | legislative initiatives, and the State Board of Education named her |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a Texas Hero for Children; she completed the Leadership Richardson |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | program of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and is a member of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Northwood Woman's Club and a youth Sunday school teacher at First |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | United Methodist Church in Richardson; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Richardson High School, Ms. Caston |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | University of Arkansas and her master's degree in marketing from |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Louisiana State University; she was a founding partner of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Communications & Management Consulting and worked for 17 years in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the beverage industry, including a decade on the executive |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | management team of the Coca-Cola Company; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Providing young people with a quality education is |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | essential to creating a prosperous future for our state and nation, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and through her achievements as a member of the Richardson ISD Board |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | of Trustees, Kim Caston has earned the profound appreciation of her |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Kim Caston for her exemplary service to |

| 34 | 34 | | the Richardson Independent School District Board of Trustees and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in her |
