 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Teresa Lyons of Hereford is being named the 2009
 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year by the Aviation
 Division of the Texas Department of Transportation at the annual
 Aviation Awards Banquet on May 12, 2009; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University and a
 second-generation pilot, Ms. Lyons has been the general manager of
 the Hereford Municipal Airport since 2004, overseeing every detail
 of the airport's maintenance and operations; and
 WHEREAS, The center of the cattle feeding industry and the
 self-proclaimed "Beef Capital of the World," Hereford is also home
 to two ethanol facilities recently built by the airport and is part
 of the emerging "new energy" boom taking place in the Panhandle; Ms.
 Lyons has played a vital role in the airport's transition from a
 little-used facility to a busy, modern facility that serves a wide
 variety of aircraft and helps attract new industry to the area; and
 WHEREAS, During the first year of her tenure, the airport's
 revenues increased by 400 percent, and sales of aviation fuel rose
 sharply; with funding from TxDOT, Ms. Lyons has been instrumental
 as well in developing an $8 million project to build a new, longer
 runway which will be able to accommodate large corporate jets; and
 WHEREAS, Teresa Lyons is highly regarded for her
 professionalism and commitment to excellence; she is an outstanding
 advocate for aviation, and she may indeed take justifiable pride in
 her myriad achievements as director of the Hereford Municipal
 Airport; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Teresa Lyons on being named the
 2009 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year by the Aviation
 Division of the Texas Department of Transportation and extend to
 her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Lyons as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
