| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Teresa Lyons of Hereford is being named the 2009 |

| 6 | 6 | | General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year by the Aviation |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Division of the Texas Department of Transportation at the annual |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Aviation Awards Banquet on May 12, 2009; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University and a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | second-generation pilot, Ms. Lyons has been the general manager of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Hereford Municipal Airport since 2004, overseeing every detail |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of the airport's maintenance and operations; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The center of the cattle feeding industry and the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | self-proclaimed "Beef Capital of the World," Hereford is also home |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to two ethanol facilities recently built by the airport and is part |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of the emerging "new energy" boom taking place in the Panhandle; Ms. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Lyons has played a vital role in the airport's transition from a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | little-used facility to a busy, modern facility that serves a wide |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | variety of aircraft and helps attract new industry to the area; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, During the first year of her tenure, the airport's |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | revenues increased by 400 percent, and sales of aviation fuel rose |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | sharply; with funding from TxDOT, Ms. Lyons has been instrumental |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | as well in developing an $8 million project to build a new, longer |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | runway which will be able to accommodate large corporate jets; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Teresa Lyons is highly regarded for her |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | professionalism and commitment to excellence; she is an outstanding |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | advocate for aviation, and she may indeed take justifiable pride in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | her myriad achievements as director of the Hereford Municipal |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Airport; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Teresa Lyons on being named the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 2009 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year by the Aviation |

| 33 | 33 | | Division of the Texas Department of Transportation and extend to |

| 34 | 34 | | her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, |
