| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Elton and Esther Manthei of Robinson |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on April 24, 2008; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Elton J. Manthei and the former Esther Lange were |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | united in matrimony at St. Paul Church in Marlin on that special day |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in 1943; through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | marriage that has been made even richer with the addition of two |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | sons, Elton and Gary, and their grandchildren and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Manthei answered his nation's call to duty with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | service in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | mechanic until his retirement; Mrs. Manthei retired from Marathon |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Battery in 1964, and the couple moved to Robinson that same year; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past 65 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | years, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Elton and Esther Manthei on their |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | continued happiness; and, be it further |
