44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
66 by a great and enduring love, L. D. and Barbara Parsons of Waco
77 celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 28, 2008; and
88 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Parsons were united in matrimony in
99 Mississippi in 1943; through the years, they have nurtured a
1010 fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the
1111 addition of two children, Merle Parsons and his wife, Barbara, and
1212 Vickie Gibbs and her husband, Tommy, as well as five grandchildren
1313 and six great-grandchildren; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Parsons answered his nation's call to duty with
1515 service in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from
1616 Sinclair-Arco in 1985; Mrs. Parsons is a homemaker; and
1717 WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past 65
1818 years, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in
1919 their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has
2020 enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace
2121 and optimism; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby congratulate L. D. and Barbara Parsons on their
2424 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
2525 continued happiness; and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2727 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Parsons as an expression of high regard
2828 by the Texas House of Representatives.
