H.R. No. 1835 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The family and friends of Luther Lee Ray, Sr., of Marshall were deeply saddened by his passing on December 29, 2008, at the age of 78; and WHEREAS, Born on November 27, 1930, in Genoa, Arkansas, "Pete" Ray exchanged vows with the former Jane Armstrong on July 1, 1952, at a ceremony held in Miller County, Arkansas; the couple shared a fulfilling relationship and together welcomed five beloved children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren into their family; and WHEREAS, A United States Army veteran and a pipefitter by trade, Mr. Ray took an active role in the local pipefitters' unions in Marshall, which he served twice as president, in Texarkana, which he led as president for one term, and in Dallas; he was also active in the Democratic Party; and WHEREAS, Pete Ray leaves behind a legacy of service to his family, his profession, and his community, and he will be greatly missed by all those individuals who were fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Luther Lee Ray, Sr., and extend deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Jane Armstrong Ray; to his children, Deborah "Debbie" Dale Ray, Trey Ray, and Linda Ray Simmons and her husband, Tony; to his grandchildren, Greg and Chris Carter and Sonny, Clint, and J'Lyn Simmons; to his great-grandchildren, Arlend Carter and Lanson, Dalton, Trevor, and Rowdy Beau Simmons; to his brother and sister, Obie Kindley and Bobbie Jean Wills; to his nephew, Mark Wayne Powell; to his lifelong friend and coworker, Sherrell Love; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Luther Lee Ray, Sr. Hughes ______________________________ Speaker of the House I certify that H.R.
